Hi everyone!
I’m Patricia Bullock, one of the founders of Fundació de Joves Navegants de Balears.

The Foundation (Or Association as it was then) was born as a result of a visit from the Japanese Sail Training Ship, Kaisei.

The Skipper, Captain Chris Blake, is one of the most well known figures in the world of Sail Training and, thanks to him, we took up the challenge of setting up a Charity Sail Training Association in order to offer a chance for the future in the nautical world to the most disadvantaged young people of the Balearic Islands.

The idea was well received by everybody as the main intention was and still is to allow the most privileged from the Islands the chance to help the less privileged by introducing them to the world of sailing and opening up training and career opportunities.

During the last 30 years we have helped hundreds of “Joves Navegants” and, with your help, we are determined to carry on with this great voyage.

Our Sailboat, S/Y Galaxie, is the heart of the Foundation and this year our support campaign consists of raising money to carry out urgent maintenance and renovation of the rigging and sails.

The cost estimate for this is 60,000 Euros.

Specialist companies, such as; Club De Mar, Oyster Yachts, Doyle Sails, The Rigging Point, Woodbury Marine Electrical, have already agreed to donate as much as possible in terms of labour and parts, but even with all this we need more.

For this we have set up the “Galaxie: Refit Campaign 2019” to give everybody the chance to donate and become part of the Joves Navegants family.

We invite you to join our group of “Friends of Joves Navegants”!
