Mar de Joves takes place between June and September. Every five days a group of eight disadvantaged young people circumnavigate Mallorca and Menorca. They experience the benefits of sail training, which include building self-confidence and self-esteem, learning to work as a team, creating a sense of achievement and learning the value of cooperation. They will also carry out other tasks such as beach and seabed cleaning and the identification of different species of fish to aid scientific research. These tasks promote environmental awareness and highlight the importance of conservation in the Balearic Islands. Altogether over 200 young people take part each year.
